With funding from the Society for Renaissance Studies and the University of Sheffield’s School of English, the Sheffield Centre for Early Modern Studies is pleased to announce this interdisciplinary colloquium interrogating the theme of space, c.1500-1700.
Recent studies on space have allowed researchers to better understand the material and social lives of those underrepresented in the historical record. With a keynote talk, taught practice-led sessions and a roundtable discussion, we hope to generate theoretical insights and practical methodologies for studying spatiality in historical societies. Ranging from the domestic to the global, from the scientific to the everyday, and from the stage to the street, delegates will be encouraged to consider and discuss new techniques, interrogating this timely theme both on the day and beyond.
