We are delighted to announce the appointment of John Gallagher (Leeds) as Editor of Renaissance Studies, together with Elizabeth Petcu (Edinburgh) as Associate Editor. John will take up his role in January 2026, while Elizabeth has recently taken up the post; their range and depth of disciplinary and interdisciplinary expertise, from history and languages to art history, architecture and scientific inquiry. John writes:
I’m delighted and honoured to be taking over the editorship ofRenaissance Studies, a journal which means a great deal to me and which occupies a uniquely important position in the interdisciplinary study of the premodern world. As we mark the departure of Kevin Killeen and Cecilia Muratori, I’m conscious that I and Elizabeth Petcu have big shoes to fill, and that the journal has been extremely lucky to be led by such brilliant scholars and colleagues. I’m excited to work alongside the superb editorial team on a journal which continues to play a vital role in shaping our shared field.
We are excited to see the new directions in which they will take the Society’s journal. And we congratulate and thank our brilliant current editorial team, Kevin Killeen (York) and Cecilia Muratori (Pavia) for five years of superb editorial work on the journal, which has gone from strength to strength, and wish them every success with their next projects.
