What is considered ‘Shakespeare’ and ‘not Shakespeare’? And why? This conversation will navigate and respond to conventions of Shakespeare and Early Modern performance that take shape across global stages. Introduced by Varsha Panjwani, the three panelists will offer brief provocations before engaging in an open-ended discussion. Leticia C. García will highlight  Shakespearean Performance and the Problem of Cultural Appropriation. Emer McHugh will present on Fiona Shaw’s The Hamlet Project, Irish Shakespeare, and a Stage Invasion. Nora J. Williams will discuss The Problem of Scaffolding Difficult Conversations in Theatre Settings.
