We hope that the competition will be of interest to enthusiastic and intellectually ambitious students from a wide range of disciplines, including English, History, Modern Languages, Art and History of Art. They do not have to be studying Renaissance topics in school. The experience will offer the opportunity of studying the Renaissance through an interdisciplinary appoach and will allow A level candidates to broaden their field of study and interest, offering an excellent preparation for A2 courses, university interviews and applications and undergraduate study.

The winner will be awarded an SRS Essay Prize of £200 and the winning essay will be published on the Society's website and considered for publication in the Society's Bulletin. Two runners up will receive a prize of £50 and their essays will also be published on the Society's website. Letters of commendation may be written for other excellent essays.

The competition for the academic year 2011-12 will be launched during the spring term of 2012. Any teacher wishing to be contacted should register an interest with the Schools' Liaison Officer, Harriet Knight, via the Secretary, using the contact form under the 'Home' tab of the website.
