The Society ran a major lecture series in 2008-09 in venues across the UK and Ireland, involving ten speakers from a range of disciplines. Following on from the success of this event, Council took the decision to continue with an annual lecture in a university, museum or gallery outside London aimed at attracting the widest possible audience. The 2011 lecture took place at the Storey Institute Lancaster and the 2012 event will be held in Nottingham(speaker, title, and venue to be announced).
