PhD position in early modern prose in English

A PhD position is offered for the DFG-funded research project Diachronic Narratology at the chair of Monika Fludernik (University of Freiburg). The post will initially be given for three years, but could be extended to a fourth year. The position will be filled in April 2020 or later.

 

Candidates should have completed their MA studies with honours and be qualified in the field of English literature in the period 1500 to 1750. The main task of the PhD candidate will be to contribute a chapter with an analysis of texts from the sixteenth or seventeenth century to a collected volume produced by the project and to write his/her PhD thesis on the same or similar texts. He or she will also be helping in the running of the project by doing bibliographical searches, proof reading, conference organisation and dealing with guests to the project.
