New Features

Each time we launch a new feature on the website, details of how best to take advantage of it will be posted here.

Posts in this forum must be approved before they appear and may be moderated by an administrator.

From 2014 the SRS will begin communicating with members via electronic newsletters. You can choose from a range of different newsletters to reflect your interests in the Society. To manage your subscriptions, go to 'My Profile' and select 'manage my subscriptions'. You may subscribe or unsubscribe for particular newsletters by selecting or deselecting the relevant box.

Looking for your papers for a Society meeting or a form to claim expenses after the event? All the Society's paperwork is now available in the Members Section of the website. Go to Membership --> Member Pages and select the documents you need from the Administration section.

Did you know that members of the Society are entitled to a range of discounts from academic publishers? To take advantage of these offers  go to Membership --> Member Pages and click on the relevant link. A discount code is either included in the link button or is applied by the publisher automatically at the check-out.

Want to find something in a past edition of the Bulletin but lost your copy? An electronic version for all editions since 2009 is now available for download here (members log-in required). Hopefully, we will be able to digitize further back in time soon.

All members of the Society have a profile on the website which the Society uses to store their contact details and current interests. Please keep this up to date by clicking on 'My Profile' in the menu at the top right hand corner of pages and selecting 'edit' from the list of options below your name.

When editing your profile you can also change your password, add a personal photo, and decide if and how other members are able to contact you directly.

Clicking on the 'Interests' button allows you to designate what area or areas of Renaissance Studies you are most interested in and provides a space for you to explain your own particular research interests.

Please note that members whose subscription expires at the end of the calendar year will find access to their profile blocked. If that happens to you, you should contact the Membership Secretary  (if you have just forgotten your password, you can contact the Webmaster).

The website is a platform on which you can provide details your own research activity and events you may be organizing. To submit an announcement of any kind, go to the 'News & Events' menu and select 'Submit an Announcement'. To help speed up formatting your text for publication, announcements should now be sent as a MS Word (.doc or .docx) file. A poster available for users to download can also be attached to the submission form.

If you want to go further in publicizing your activities, why not contribute an article for the features section of the website? These should be no more than 1,200 words and written in an appropriate, informal style. To  arrange this, please contact me directly.

The website now has calendars which make it possible to see and search through all upcoming events by date. To access the general calendar, click on the News & Events button on the menu at the top of the page or on the 'more' link in the 'Upcoming Events' box in the right hand column. In the monthly view, conferences are marked with a red bar at the top and lectures/seminars with a blue one. Society special events have a green bar. Specific calendars for conferences and lectures/seminars are also available by clicking on the link from the relevant page in the drop-down menu.

Applications for the Society's Postgraduate and Study Fellowships and for the Museums, Archives, and Libraries Bursary Scheme can now be completed online and uploaded via the website. Follow the links from the relevant section when each competition is open.

References in support of candidates can also be uploaded in the same way.

Want to draw attention to any research you have recently published? Request that it be added to the 'Publications by Members' page. (To protect members' confidentiality no books are added to this section without a request except those by members of Council).

The Society's Biennial Conference has its own website hosted by the University in which it takes place. The section on this website only provides basic information about its programme so follow the link on the relevant page for more details.
